Premium going to end soon...

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 31, 2015, 2:06 PM

Looks like my premium membership is going to run out again. So expect my page to go back to being really boring again soon. Haha

I don't really do as many polls as I should be and I haven't been posting a whole lot of new material, so I guess it is going to stay basic for a while unless someone out there is feeling generous. :)

The Kickstarter for The Adventures of Kroma 2 is almost ready to launch. I have to finish putting together the video and then it's go time. So keep an eye out for that.

I finally got my tablet working with my new laptop now. So no more jittery lines when trying to draw things with it. So I am also working on some new artwork for the game as well. I will be posting those designs as soon as I get them finished up.

Kroma 2 Kickstarter launching soon...

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 9, 2014, 11:52 AM

Just thought I would give everyone an update on this since I have not really posted much of anything on here. The Kickstarter for The Adventures of Kroma 2 will be launching in about a week , once everything has been verified and fine tuned.  So keep an eye out for more updates as we get closer to the launch.

I am also still looking for other people to join the team for future projects.. I need more artists that can create clean vector art for use in promotional art.  I could also use another pixel artist that can also do animations. Note me if anyone is interested and I can give you details on what would be done.

Looking for team members...

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 14, 2014, 11:04 AM

I am currently looking for potential team members to join my studio and make games with me. So far the team consists of me doing graphics and programming and 3 awesome musicians.

What I am looking for is to have at least one more pixel artist and one person who knows Stencyl pretty well and can help with assembly and behavior creation.

So if anyone is interested then feel free to send me a note on here and link me to your work and we can see what happens.

Small forum update...

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 14, 2014, 7:19 AM

While I am working on rebuilding my current game, The Adventures Of Kroma 2, I thought I would take a little time to tweak the Hunter Studios forum. Today I added the "Upcoming Games" section so that everyone can see what we are working on and what we will be working on.

So feel free to swing on over there and check it out. If anyone has any suggestions for improvements to the forum then just leave them in the suggestions section. I would love to know what everyone thinks of the forum so far.

Major setbacks and computer issues....

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 31, 2014, 6:19 AM

I ran into a major setback the other day with the new Adventure of Kroma game. I went to open the file in Stencyl so I could work on it and I got an error message that tells me a file is corrupt or incomplete and it will not load. So all of the work I have done to this point has been lost. I did publish a small playable swf file the other day but that is all that is left of the game at this point.

I have been having all sorts of issues with my laptop because it is so old and dying and that may be what caused the issue with the game but I have no way of getting a new computer. So I am going to take some time to reorganize the resource files for the game and start over in Stencyl with the assembly but it is going to be a little while until I post anything playable. Anyone who is curious and wants to take a peek at the swf file I was able to publish before the crash can note me.

I don't normally ask for help but anyone who would like to donate to help keep things moving forward in a more positive way can note me.

Official Hunter Studios forum ready for launch...

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 30, 2014, 6:50 AM

... ALMOST.

I have been working on setting up a forum where my team and I can work on our games and I can do my commission work from. So I have basically split the forum into two by hiding my team's area from the public and creating an area for the public that will offer things like tips and tools for designing games to help make the commission work go a lot smoother. As well as a showcase of the team's individual works.

The forum is far from being completely setup but anyone who wants to take a peek and maybe offer suggestions or comments on it is more than welcome. I am hoping to have it finished this week but it is still functional as it is now. So anyone who would like to commission me can do so through there as well as noting me on DA.

Prices for basic tile sets and sprite sheets will also be finalized this week and posted on both here and on the forums. I will also be offering basic game assembly using Stencyl for those who are interested in having a Flash game made. So if you have your own art and want it turned into a working game then I can help with that.

You can check out the forum here. Official Hunter Studios Forum

Who has a Newgrounds account?...

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 14, 2014, 7:29 AM

I was just wondering how many of you also have a Newgrounds account. I started one so I could post my completed games on there in the hopes that I can make a few bucks but the site has all sorts of categories so it got me wondering just how many other people on DA use that site as well.

So feel free to share your account on here so others can check it out.

Mine is, hunterstudios.newgrounds.com/ . It only has one game on it at the moment but that will be changing soon.

New book reviews coming soon..

Journal Entry: Wed May 21, 2014, 12:14 PM

I have been asked to review some new  books from Packt Publishing that are out for the program, Scratch. Scratch is what the visual coding for Stencyl is based off of so it uses the same style blocks to "program" things like animations to games. So keep an eye out for those reviews in the near future.

Adventures of Kroma to be in color for sequel...

Journal Entry: Sun Apr 6, 2014, 8:56 AM

Let's start this off with an update on the Stencyl Jam contest. I lost. Not much more to say about that without sounding like a sore loser so we'll just move on. Haha

Okay. So the main reason for this journal entry is to officially announce that the next Adventures of Kroma game I am working on is now going to be in full color instead of Chromadepth 3D. I loved how the effect worked and I will make other games in that style but for my larger projects, I think I am going to stick with full color. Not many people even know what Chromadepth 3D is even after I try to explain it to them so there is no real reason to keep my larger projects in 3D when almost no one will get to appreciate the game as it was meant to be played.

Some of you may have seen the first set of mockups I posted and you can see that I am using the same tiles and sprites as before but just giving them proper color and more detail. I will be making brand new tile sets for this game as well since now that things are in color, some of the tiles just won't work for certain areas like the caves.

There are also going to be some new play mechanics added that I could not fit into the Stencyl Jam game for one reason or another. So this means there will be things such as: throwing rocks, flying, swimming and boss battles.

I have also found someone on Newgrounds who is teaming up with me on this project to make around 10 music tracks. That means real chiptune music this time around which is something I was really hoping for.

This project is already off to a great start and without the worry of a deadline, I will be able to make this a much larger and way more polished game.

I will be posting lots of mockups and random images from this as I continue working on it to get feedback from everyone so keep your eyes open.

Stencyl Jam Progress...

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 12, 2014, 5:16 PM

I know I haven't posted anything new in a while but I had some issues transferring things over to the new version of Stencyl so I was forced to rebuild everything from scratch. Haha. I do plan on posting some demos of the game's progress but it might not be for another couple days. I am just about to wrap up the main menu and I have started work on building levels. I was hoping to have a lot more done by now but getting the player to move like he did took a lot more time than I had thought.

So keep an eye out for updates coming soon. I would really like everyone's feedback on this. Getting the studio license is a huge deal for me and I need everyone's help to make sure this game is the best it can be within the time given.

Stencyl Jam 2014

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 6, 2014, 6:59 PM

I have decided to try and enter Stencyl Jam this year. I will be using the tiles and sprites from my 3D Kroma game to create a mini game of sorts that will lead up to the events that occur in The Adventures Of Kroma.

I may be posting updates for that on here. I'm not sure yet. Haha

Top prize this year is $500 and a studio license for Stencyl which is a pretty big deal. That would allow me to publish my games to several different platforms which is what I have been wanting so everyone keep your fingers crossed.

Anyone interested in checking out the contest can follow the link below. This year's Stencyl Jam is being hosted by Newgrounds. Everything you need to know about the contest is there.

Star Wars Anime...

Journal Entry: Wed Feb 26, 2014, 7:49 AM

It's been a long while since I have done a search for Star Wars fan films. Well I came across one today that really just blew my mind. While it is not a complete film or anything, it is still one of the best Star Wars related things to show up in a long time. The video is a little old but this absolutely needs to become a real series.
